Our Lady of Beauraing

Ninth window on the left side of the Church

Our Lady of Beauraing. or "The Virgin of the Golden Heart, refers to a series of apparitions that the Blessed Virgin made to five children in this Belgian town during the early winter of 1932-33. Mary supposedly appeared thirty-three times in the garden of a local convent school. In the last vision, reportedly seen by 25,000 people, Mary once again called herself by her seemingly favorite title, "the Immaculate Conception".

In the lower medallion of our window, "The Vision of Beauraing", the five children are seen gazing at a vision above the viaduct as seen on November 28, 1932. On December 2. the children asked the lady who she was and she confirmed that she was the Immaculate Conception. This is the scene at the center of the window, Our Lady of Beauraing, the figure of Our Lady standing in an attitude of prayer. In a later apparition, Mary intimated that a chapel was to be built. On December 29th, she showed her heart, which appeared to be shining like gold. She is officially venerated as the "Virgin With the Golden Heart", which is the image on the upper medallion of the window.

On January 3, in the final appearance to the children, Mary was reported to have spoken to the children individually, saying, "I am the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven. Pray always. I will convert sinners. Sacrifice yourself for me.

Our Lady of Beauraing, pray for us
