Our Lady Queen
of the Universe

Sixth window on the left side of the
Church

On November 1st, during the Marian Year of
1954,the Holy Father, Pope Pius XII,
proclaimed the liturgical feast of Mary, Queen
of the Universe (formerly celebrated on May
31st). This window is dedicated to Mary under
this title, one of the few of our Church
windows not describing an apparition.

The top medallion depicts a crown,
symbolizing queenship, imposed upon an M
and an A, the first letters of Our Lady's name,
Mary. The larger section is an original and
unique conception of Mary as Queen of the
Universe. In beautiful colors, Mary stands
upon a cloud with a huge globe at her side
and her right hand above the globe carrying
the scepter of her queenship. Her left hand
cradles the Christ Child whose arms are
outstretched and, like Mary, He wears a
crown. The magnetic rays emanating from
Mary penetrate both the globe and the cloud,
indicating that Mary's power is not limited to
this world, but extends throughout the whole
universe.

The lower medallion, depicts Pope Pius XII,
often called the Marian Pope, whose great
love and devotion to Mary was so much a part
of many lives, since he served as Holy Father
from 1939 until the early 1960's and:was
Pope when this beautiful Marian church was
built. The shield images a Papal tiara, a
symbol that, as Vicar of Christ, the Pope is to
teach, govern and sanctify the church.

Our Lady, Queen of the Universe, pray for us
