| Assumption was a Catholic parochial school founded in 1938 by the Franciscan Friars and the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany. We welcomed students of all racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds into our community of learners. Embracing a holistic and developmental approach to learning, we emphasize basic skills as the building blocks of education, coupled with remediation for struggling learners and challenging programs for high achievers. High standards of academic achievement and moral behavior based on Gospel values are expected of our students according to their abilities and learning styles so that Assumption can live up to its motto, "A community of faith teaching a world of knowledge." Unfortunately the Archdiocese of Newark decided to close Assumption School June 30, 2010 |
| The School Advisory Board meet monthly to set policy and to plan for the future. Members of the Board were drawn not only from the school community, but also from the wider parish and civic communities. The Board is instrumental in developing the budget of the school and in setting goals for the future. |
