One summer day in late August, Ms Sullivan wandered into her favorite Hallmark store to purchase some cards and perhaps a knick-knack or two when she spotted something very unusual on the counter. Who would have guessed but the card store had frogs for sale. Not just any frogs; two frogs, a snail, living gravel, and a bamboo shoot which, when all together, combine to form a perfect little ecosystem. This was just too cool for Ms Sullivan to pass up, so she bought the little guys and headed straight for her classroom. She knew her students would be both surprised and pleased with the new additions to the classroom. But the big question was what would she name them. After much deliberating, she decided to let the students decide on the names. So for about one month students could suggest names in the frog/snail suggestion box. Then Ms Sullivan narrowed the list down to eight finalist. 1.) Harley, Davidson, & Maxwell 2.) Derek, Jeter, & Yankee 3.) Ted, Ned, & Fred 4.) Luke, Padame, & Leai 5.) Bonnie, Clyde, & Scooby 6.) Jumpy, Hopper, & Shelden 7.) Larry, Curly, & Mo 8.) The Three Musketeers Aramis, Athos, Porthos After an intense election held on November 3rd, the students (by secret ballot) voices were heard and the frogs and the snail were named. Derek, Jeter, and Yankee, collected the most votes with Ned, Ted, and Fred a close second. Ironically the names were announced by Mrs. Mueller over the school loud speaker the same day that Derek Jeter and the Yankees won their 27th World Series! |
