| Speed Skin Covers During class the keyboards are covered to train the students not to look at the keys while typing. The monitors are also turned off, encouraging the students to look at the lesson and nothing else. When the student completes a lesson he/she turns the monitor on and checks his/her progress. |

| Starting with kindergarten all students are introduced to the keyboard. Through programs and word processing assignments the students gradually become familiar with the keys. Proper posture and small hand coordination play a large role in keyboarding. Linked below is a website that correlates with the lessons being introduced during keyboarding class. There is even a spot to practice. Please encourage your child to practice daily but more importantly to incorporate the keyboarding skills into all assignments on the computer. Keyboarding class will be no good if the students continue to type with one finger or their thumbs when doing assignments or talking to their friends. |
| The backspace should not be used when practicing. Type the lesson and then check for mistakes. Backspacing over mistakes slows down the typing rhythm and removes your fingers from the home keys. |
