Keyboarding
begins w/
proper posture
Speed Skin Covers
During class the keyboards are covered
to train the students not to look at the
keys while typing.  The monitors are also
turned off, encouraging the students to
look at the lesson and nothing else.  When
the student completes a lesson he/she
turns the monitor on and checks his/her
progress.
* feet flat on the floor
* knees together
* back straight
* arms relaxed
* elbows close to the body
* fingers curved
* finger tips resting on the home
keys
* wrists should not lean on the desk
or keyboard
* eyes should look at the excercise
not the keyboard
Encourage
your child to
practice these
lessons over
the summer.

Daily practice
makes a huge
difference!

Practice for
10 minutes a
few days a
week and see
huge results
come
September!
Starting with
kindergarten all
students are introduced
to the keyboard.
Through programs and
word processing
assignments the
students gradually
become familiar with the
keys.
Proper posture and small
hand coordination play a
large role in keyboarding.

Linked below is a
website that correlates
with the lessons being
introduced during
keyboarding class.
There is even a spot to
practice.  Please
encourage your child to
practice daily but more
importantly to
incorporate the
keyboarding skills into
all assignments on the
computer.
Keyboarding class will be
no good if the students
continue to type with one
finger or their thumbs
when doing assignments
or talking to their
friends.
The backspace should not be
used when practicing.  Type the
lesson and then check for
mistakes.  Backspacing over
mistakes slows down the typing
rhythm and removes your
fingers from the home keys.
Practice makes
perfect
Remember to coach
your child, remind
them to keep their
fingers on the home
keys, proper posture
and be supportive.
